Family reunification:

Our laboratory can look back on more than 15 years of experience in DNA testing in the context of family reunification or visa matters. There is close cooperation here between numerous embassies and the Federal Foreign Office, particularly with regard to the dispatch and transmission of sample and specimen collection kits. Simply enter your details in the form below and we will send you everything you need free of charge and without obligation.

Our DNA laboratory requires the following information:

  • File number of the case at the responsible German embassy (or reference number of the IOM)
  • which message it is
  • Name, (address), Tel. of persons abroad
  • Name and address of the persons in Germany
  • Client

Naturalization:

Sometimes a DNA test is required in the naturalization process (to acquire German citizenship). For example, close family members whose identity has been established beyond doubt should affirm the identity of the person concerned on oath. Foreigners authorities, regional councils, ADD or BAMF often require such proof. In these cases, we offer a relationship test – you can find more information on this under:(link to relationship tests)

Frequently asked questions about the family reunification test

Do you also carry out DNA tests as part of family reunification procedures?

Yes, our laboratory has many years of experience in carrying out DNA tests for family reunification. We work together with the agencies involved (embassies, consulates, IOM) to organize the collection of samples abroad.
You will find a summary of the most important information in the form of a checklist on our homepage or we will be happy to send it to you.

How does the FNZ family reunification process work using a DNA test?

As a rule, we send a test kit with cotton swabs to the respective embassy and a second kit to the person(s) in Germany. When shipping to the IOM in countries such as Kenya or Ethiopia, the test kit sometimes has to be transported by courier.

What does the laboratory need from the embassy or the IOM?

– We need to know who is handling the case, i.e. embassy, IOM or consulate
– and in which country?
– File number of the case at the embassy/IOM/consulate
– Name, address, tel. of persons abroad
– Name and address of the persons in Germany
– Client

How are the cotton buds sent to the embassy?

As a rule, they are sent via the Federal Foreign Office. In exceptional cases, shipment can also be made directly to the embassy, e.g. by DHL Express. This is then associated with additional costs.

Are all costs included in the price?

Costs relating to documentation with a doctor or authority in Germany
shall be borne by the client. Costs for sample collection abroad
only by the witness (doctor/embassy/authority) to Galantos Genetics.
Return shipping and customs costs are not included in the price.

Mother and child live in another city, can I still do a paternity test?

YES, just give us 2 addresses and we will send it to the father and to the address of the mother and child.

What do I do if people live abroad for the paternity test?

Simply give us 2 addresses and we will send the test set to the address abroad. The person(s) living there go to the doctor, who then sends the samples to our laboratory. The samples do not break on the way to Germany.

What do I need to consider when providing proof of naturalization?

A genetic relationship to a person who holds a recognized passport must be proven. As a rule, this is proof of kinship to an uncle, brother, sister or aunt, e.g. in Norway, Sweden or England. The related person must have a European passport, for example. The regional council can then approve naturalization after the DNA proof of relationship.
